Trials and Testing

Seaspeed provides instrumented model testing and sea trials for the definition of marine craft performance covering catamaran, monohull, air cushion, Swath and hydrofoil craft. The company maintains its own wide range of calibrated instrumentation from load cells and pressure gauges to accelerometers and wave buoys.

The company has also developed techniques for side-by-side comparative testing of new vs established designs in test tank and open water conditions as well as during full scale trials. This work has proven particularly valuable to designers and owners wishing to visualise specific improvements between one design and another.

Ship model production, instrumentation, testing, data analysis and technical reporting are undertaken in the most cost effective manner commensurate with the requirements of the client.

The following services are regularly undertaken:

• Open water instrumented performance and visualisation tests in calm and wave conditions

• Resistance, propulsion, manoeuvring, directional stability and dynamic stability tests and trials

• Seakeeping tests and trials, with or without active ride control or autopilot systems

• Shallow water testing including powering and wake wash measurements

• Sea trials in support of performance and RCS verification
